Question: What advice did you give on how to clean up the water?
-
John Snow answered on 27 Nov 2018:
Once I was sure that the contaminated well was the source of the cholera outbreak I took my evidence to the local council. I showed them a dot plot map of houses where the disease had struck, hospital records and testimonials from residents around the well. The evidence was quite compelling (500 deaths from cholera in 10 days in the 250m area around the well) and so the council arranged for the handle to be removed from the well to prevent people from drinking the contaminated water. Shortly after that, the cholera outbreak ended.
